Lawrenceville, the Brunswick County seat of government, features historic buildings, shops and restaurants and the historic courthouse square and library. Travel time via I-85 is about one hour to Richmond and one and one-half hours to Raleigh, N. C.
Alberta received a $1 million dollar revitalization grant from the Virginia Department of Housing and Urban Development that not only revitalized the town, but its Town Square as well, which includes a gazebo and playground equipment.
Alberta has a 10-acre Alberta School Park that includes a walking trail linking downtown to the park.
The Tobacco Heritage Trail, a walking trail linking Lynchburg to Sussex County is in the process of being completed. The trail will follow the abandoned Norfolk Southern Railroad line. Alberta will be an important stop for hikers, bikers, and runners who will frequent the trail.
